Elizabeth Herrin

Registered Dietitian

Elizabeth (Liz) Herrin has over five years of experience in nutrition counseling and is a Registered and Licensed Dietitian. She holds a Master’s degree in Health Sciences from Georgia State University where she completed her dietetic internship requirements and received the Sarah M. Hunt Clinical Practice Award, awarded for outstanding performance in a clinical setting. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition Science and Dietetics from the University of Georgia. She has been a member of the Greater Atlanta Dietetic Association since 2017 and is currently serving on the executive board. Before coming to Gastroenterology Atlanta, Liz has worked at Atlanta area hospitals and worked in private practice with a special interest in clients suffering from disordered eating. In her spare time, she enjoys playing with her new baby and two corgis.

Evi Pouver

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Evi Pover is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a National Certified Counselor, and she holds two additional certifications in the treatment of addictions and co-occurring disorders. She takes a behavioral approach and has worked in many different settings, including hospital, community crisis, schools, and residential facilities. She specializes in resistant and hard to treat issues. Evi also teaches psychology on the college level, with a focus on Developmental, Health, and Cognitive Psychology.

Denise Coots

Fitness Expert

Denise Coots is a registered dietitian nutritionist, certified personal trainer and certified transformation specialist who is passionate about helping others maximize their nutrition and fitness. She worked as a clinical registered dietitian for 12 years before opening her small gym which she ran out of her garage-turned-gym in early 2020. Her business grew so quickly, she was able to expand and she continues to help others by teaching small group fitness classes and personal training. Denise is extremely passionate about helping others succeed and will go above and beyond to make it happen. She has been married to husband Nathan for 19 years and they have two amazing sons, Cooper and Blaze. They love to spend their free time fishing, camping, swimming and of course, exercising!

King Jordan, Ph.D.

Dr. I. King Jordan is a Professor in the School of Biological Sciences and Director of the Bioinformatics Graduate Program at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Members of the Jordan Lab at Georgia Tech conduct bioinformatics research with an emphasis on human population genomics and genetic ancestry inference in support of health equity. His group also develops bioinformatics software for large-scale genome sequence and functional genomic analyses. He established the Applied Bioinformatics Laboratory (ABiL) to provide bioinformatics data analysis and workforce development services to partners in the academic, non-profit, and industry sectors. In addition to his research and development efforts, Dr. Jordan is actively engaged in bioinformatics and genomics capacity building, with a focus on global health in Africa and Latin America. He was named a Fulbright Scholar to Colombia, and he is the Co-Founder and Director of the PanAmerican Bioinformatics Institute.
